Senator Nelson was right on the money when he said we need another Gulfstream jet for the fleet.
I can not believe how inept our government can be some time. Building a bridge for 50 people in BFE Alaska while millions who depend on the NHC desperately need another research jet so we can have more data to help warn everyone.
It just makes you shake your head.

I agree. The NHC should be given the funds they need to upgrade their equipment. The last thing they should have to worry about is whether they can afford to fly their jet into a hurricane to get valuable information about the surrounding environment of a hurricane. Those flights have proven to be very valuable in providing good data for the hurricane models to provide much better forecasts.
Even with a lack of funding, they have done an outstanding job and they should be getting more funding and support from the government.
And yes, they all deserve a good rest. Hopefully no more storms for this year.

I also agree with much more funding for NOAA especially to adquire more planes and new ones.
