Damage in Kendall Photos.

#1 Postby Vandora » Thu Oct 27, 2005 7:55 pm

Just thought I'd share these. We didn't get anything like some of our neighbors to the north got. Here's some photos I took. I didn't get any of the sign damaged, which, of course, it pretty massive around here. Nor light poles, or the slight damage to buildings, and roofs. But here's what I did get:

The trash can on the tree is funny :) Lots of trees down in your area over there....seems like the common story around these parts.

Isn't that amusing?

Sure seems that way. Saw your pics, too. I'm glad we "lucked" out... Also glad to see you doing okay.

Vand - I meant to ask you - how did you end up doing? Last I'd talked to you, I believe you were headed to your safe room....It was neat to lay here with just the radio on listening to the winds howl outside. I hated not being able to see out though...that was probably the worst part.

We stayed in there. I'll tell you, I was afraid our slidding doors would break... They didn't, whew! They did bow a lot, though. The building shook a lot, and we could feel the wind inside, even though it never GOT inside. The only thing that we, our unit, got was water in the master bedroom, soaking into the carpet. That happened with Katrina as well, though oddly, there was more this time. I think we were lucky!! Thanks for asking. :)

No problem :) Isn't the sliding glass door thing weird? We had plywood up on all our windows, including the sliders, but when I went to them to peak through the space, I could feel the doors moving back and forth. It was really strange.

Glad your unit fared ok. Good news is you should get new carpet from it ;)
