TS Bill and Steve Lyons

#1 Postby timNms » Sun Jun 29, 2003 12:03 pm

Steve Lyons on TWC said that if the center of Bill reforms under the convection then the track would need to be shifted toward the east.
Just my humble uneducated guess is that the storm will come inland farther east than expected at present time. After looking at wv loops and visible loops of Bill, seems to me that either something is going to have to disappear or Bill will be moved farther east than projected. (Paul Emmick of twc jsut mentioned that they're thinking the center will reform). Either way, looks like areas around the mid Louisianna coast toward the Fl. panhandle will get some heavy rains.

Only if Bill consolidates itself the major weather will be north and east of the center(s) of Bill ...

timNMS,

Let me ask if you are in AL or FL. And here's why. I posted on the poll thread that there have been more gris-gris pulling Bill to Florida than almost every storm last year combined. Steve Lyons is covering his rear-end because he read my post at the home site and realized that everyone knows his call was bunk. In any event, if it turns out to be a strong storm (meaning near Cat-1ish), it's going to hook east like the models are predicting bringing the Panhandle it's fair share of rain at least twice (would be today, tonight and probably Tuesday or Wed.). If it stays weak, it could slowly drift east after landfall or might even be pushed up into NE TX/NW LA as a slow moving rain maker.

We'll see.

What!!!!!

He bows to me! I respect Steve a hell of a lot, but I don't bother much with TWC in the post-John Hope era. It's good for radar when you're not close to a computer, but that's about it.

But understand he's gotta cover his tail ;).

Anyway, your namesake - Rainband - I'm in the middle of my second one from Bill. It's about .2" and gusts to maybe 15mph. Here comes blue sky to the SE so it looks like we're about through this one.

Time to crack open the first brewski of the day.

Peace,

Steve

I'm in South Mississippi about 100 miles north of Gulfport. I don't believe everything I see or hear on TWC as I am smart enough to look at radars, satellites and wv loops and see for myself what's going on. No, I'm not a meteorologist, but I'm not stupid either! I left GoPBI board because of crap like this and I don't intend to put up with it here either.

Yeah... I mean no disrespect to TWC but Cheryl Lemke said while ago that there could be total rainfall amounts from Bill from "2 UP TO 5 inches". That is very conservative I believe.

Come on guys, cool down. This is suppose to be fun not ugly and belittling to others. Take a deep breath and start over.
Tim, you are always welcome here at Storm2k. We have a friendly and warm atmosphere here and intend to keep it that way.
Tim and Steve, shake hands, call a truce and keep on posting!!!

Earlier today, the Moze was talking about rainfall from the tropical system already affecting the pandhandle of "Texas" LOL. She meant Florida.

I didn't mean to come off as one having an "attitude". But it really ticks me off when knowledgable people come across as if the "undegreed in meteorology" folks are stupid.

In my original post, I was just making an observation and mentioning that someone else, "an expert" if you will, was seeing the same thing that I was seeing.

Did not mean to offend Steve or anyone else, but I don't think his reply to my post was fair, as he has no idea who I am. He just jumped to the conclusion that I was someone in Florida wishing for a storm to come my way. Trust me, I have no wish for a storm. But it looks like we're in for some heavy rains over the next few days.

Stay safe, Steve. Looks like your area will see some rough stuff before its over.

Tim - I only asked if you were in AL or FL and even told you why I was asking. I didn't direct any accusations at you - just the web in general for this storm. That's all. No hard feelings from me.

Btw, looks like you Mississippians might just see a bunch of rain out of Bill, maybe some of the nastiest it's got to offer. If it stays on a northerly course around 91 or even 90, that puts you guys under the gun for some heavy rains. We got 3 bands through here and are in a lull period. The heavy stuff is just starting to show up on radar (about 260nm S of Morgan City).
