Serious flooding threat is shifting east of here...

#1 Postby Steve » Mon Jun 30, 2003 2:29 pm

We're still probably going to pick up another 2-3" in here in New Orleans. Scattered amounts run from about 1.5" (Kenner - official station) to well over 6" in New Orleans East. Eastern St. Tammany Parish is caught under a heavy rainband right now and likely will see some localized flooding over the next hour, plus everything else to the SW. If you look at Doppler Estimates from coastal Mississippi (especially Jackson Co. - sup LindaLoo?):

you can see how much rain has fallen since 6 pm last night. These guys are going to see another 4-7+" before it's all over as will the people in S AL and NW FL.

Be careful of flooding if you live in a low-lying or ponding area!

Yes Steve just had a major squall blow through here. It was raining so heavy that it was pure white outside. The rain was blowing horizontal.
