TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
530 PM EDT MON JUL 7 2003

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

REPORTS FROM AN AIR FORCE HURRICANE HUNTER PLANE AND RADAR
OBSERVATIONS FROM MARTINIQUE INDICATE THAT THERE IS NO CLOSED
CIRCULATION IN THE STRONG TROPICAL WAVE THAT IS CURRENTLY MOVING
ACROSS THE LESSER ANTILLES. THIS SYSTEM IS PRODUCING LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINS AND GUSTY WINDS TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE IN SQUALLS OVER SOME
OF THE ISLANDS. WIND GUSTS TO 52 MPH WERE REPORTED AT ST LUCIA
WITHIN THE PAST HOUR. THIS SYSTEM REMAINS WELL ORGANIZED...AND
CONTINUES TO HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION AS
IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 20 TO 25 MPH INTO THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA.
ANOTHER HURRICANE HUNTER PLANE IS SCHEDULED TO INVESTIGATE THE WAVE
TOMORROW MORNING.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
TUESDAY.
