How many named storms NOAA'S 2006 outlook will have?
Folks, even if I am a moderator I had to go by the rules and ask the rest of the staff for approval for this poll to be posted and they granted it.
My opinion is that they will be around 16-18 named storms. We will know their numbers when they release the outlook on May 22.

To clarify,I posted the numbers like they appear at the poll because NOAA always do their forecast with in between numbers example 16-18 etc. They not have the numbers like what the folks of Colorado State University or Tropical Storm Risk have as they do their outlooks with only one number per category.

i think that might be wishful thinking there....but yea hopefully its a quiet season with plenty of FISH!Camille_2_Katrina wrote:I'm saying 7 to 9... We need a break and I think this will

not all of August without a named storm.
We really need a long break here in the GOM especially.

Agree...same reason I chose the 13-15 range. Good numbers to raise needed awareness (not that anyone living along the northern Gulf Coast or in Florida needs it!) but not send anyone — read "news media" — into a panicked frenzy.

Andrew '92, Katrina '05, Gustav '08, Isaac '12, Ida '21...and countless other lesser landfalling storms whose names have been eclipsed by "The Big Ones".
were going to have an active season this year, but will they hit the U.S. no one knows....remember guys we dont need 20 tropical systems to have a bad year,if we have 12-13 but alot of them hit the U.S. 2006 will end being worse then 2005.to me thats why everyone has to be ready for the possiblity of continued hurricane strikes along our coastlines, its been happening since 2004-2005 so you never know it may very well continue.
i thinks NOAA'S update will include Between 19-21 named storms...
PS!keep this in mind it only takes ONE!
