This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

question

kind of rediculous but im gonna ask it anyway...can a tropical system be formed out of volcanic ash...the ash is hot and should give it a warm core and the water around the volcano would be very warm...is it possible?

Not in the way you're probably thinking (clouds actually made of ash), but the ash could cause actual water vapor clouds to form, and, I suppose if the conditions are right, it'd be possible, but extremely unlikely.

I think I read somewhere where volcanic ash actually cools the atmosphere. I'm no scientist but I would say extremely unlikely on your premise.
