Ok folks, let's see if possible we post all about the Atlantic Tropical Waves here and not have individual threads for all the waves.I see right now 4 threads about waves. Here we can post about the models, sat pics and comments about the tropical waves.

I will start by posting this image of the Atlantic.

Those two waves, one around 30w and the other just off West Africa look healthy for early June.

but they are likely too far south. My money is still on the wave about to enter the Caribb. I think it may have a chance 3-6 days down the road.

TROPICAL WAVE IS ALONG 28W S OF 11N MOVING WEST 10-15 KT...BUT
LATEST SATELLITE PICTURES INDICATE THAT THE WAVE IS PROBABLY
FURTHER WEST NEAR 30W. THIS WAVE MAY BE RELOCATED IN THE NEXT
SURFACE ANALYSIS. MODERATE TO ISOLATED STRONG CONVECTION IS
FOUND ON EITHER SIDE OF THE WAVE WHICH ALSO SHOWS AN INVERTED V
CLOUD PATTERN.

Above is 8 PM discussion about wave around 30w.

To clarify, this thread is for waves that are between Africa and the Lesser Antilles. If a wave is in the Caribbean anyone can make a new thread about those. :)

What do they do - send a Hurricane Hunter into a wave?

Hurricane hunters dont go past 55w longitud. When a organizing wave crosses that 55w line then the planes go.

Both look good IMO, however the one off of Africa needs to gain some lat. and soon.

EWG- maybe JB was right in the next wave / pulse of activity around the 20th...We shall see.

The wind shear should supress development until it reaches the Caribbean Sea. It's far too early for Cape Verde storms. Maybe in July we'll see one or two...

It's scary right seeing these waves like this in early June. It's an early sign that the Cape Verde season will be more active than it was in 2005.

The one near 35 and 10 is very impressive looking to me... especially for this time of year, but really any time of year for that matter. Too early to forecast exact strength, but I can tell you this... I'll be surprised if it's not hurricane-strength.

What's going to be more disturbing is when those systems reach the mid-80's waters of the Caribbean and can march into the Yucatan channel.

I fear one or two this summer or early fall will make it again.

So your saying it will become a hurricane one day? Dude, this is a wave not a Tropical Storm. I understand how we like to jump at things early but really, it could do anything and guessing doesn't work for me or anyone else. The models is a good place to start getting ideas for these systems. I haven't checked them yet.

I agree Luis - looks like it will be an active CV season with the types of waves we are seeing. Even as early as July we may see one or two of these take off.

I think by September we'll see the CV train will underway 8-)
