Gulf Blob....

#1 Postby Yankeegirl » Thu Jun 15, 2006 6:45 pm

Just wanted some take on what the local met here just said... Frank Billingsley(NBC,2) said that he wouldnt be surprised if the low that is in south Texas turns into a depression as it moves out into the gulf... and if it did form it wouldnt be much in the way of a wind storm, but a lotta rain... He has already put a 100% chance of rain in the forecast for tomorrow... Not that I am going to complain, we really do need it (the rain).....

yeah, I saw that too and mentioned it on another thread. Looks interesting to say the least, but I don't know if the low will have enough time to develop. Either way though, I would expect heavy rain and breezy onshore winds tomorrow.

Any chance the rain may head up I-45 to the Centerville area. We are very hot and dry. No rain in 38 days.

Thanks for the info KFDM. If we don't get rain quick, we will be in another drought situation, just like last year.

The forecast for Jackson says we have a 80% chance of rain Saturday. I wonder if it has anything to do with this?

What are the chances that it will make it to South Alabama? Please say high! We need the rain also!

From the satellite it doesn't look like it will be moving this way any time soon.

Looking at the WV loop it appears we are indeed in for a wetting tomorrow. It actually could start late tonight. The high that has been over our area is retrograding to the SW and that is starting to pull the moisture and the rain N and NNW as well as the ULL that cut off from the trough is moving W into S Texas. The further that high and ULL retrograde the better our chance of rain becomes. We sure do need the rain BAD!!!

I'm only a couple of hours west of there. We have been baked over here also.(High 90's for quite some time. Getting good use of the pool though)

Maybe we are going to get rain on Saturday sometime because the NWS has a 40% of rain for us. Please let us have some rain. Okay I will stop begging.

It rained for about 30 sec. when the clouds came over. Oh well looks like we could get a lot more in the next few days.

Hmmm.... is there a circulation developing just south of Freeport? I see storms trying to get going in what appears to be a counter clockwise rotation.
