How about a model poll. A poll on who will be the closest 72 hrs out. Have the poll start on the 12z run each day and close 00z run next day (8:00 am to midnight EDT) from initialization to land fall (or fish). i.e. Monday's run winner would be announced Thursday. Each storm would then have an overall winner over the complete run (i.e. initialization winner could be UK Met overall winner GFS). You could include the GFS, UKMET, TPC (I know it's a blend, but it could tell us if the blend is the best way to go), etc. You could even include the MM5 or NAM for the radicals. You could put which models to include up for a vote. I can see it now, a cheering section chanting "GFS" "GFS", another "UKMET", and of course this little band of radicals in the corner chanting "NAM". Something we boomers will always have a problem with.
p.s. How about printing a t-shirt at the end of the season for the overall winner for 2006. Something like "GAS" 2006 Overall champion for the 2006 hurricane season.
Poll proposal.
