This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Feast or Famine ?

#1 Postby flyingphish » Wed Aug 16, 2006 10:20 pm

I have been told that hurricanes are natures way of transferring heat from one place to another. Should this be the case ,it is entirely possible that this season could be a famine. Last year and a few years subsequent to, were feast years. Perhaps, with all the heat transfers to the northern maritimes," things are rebalancing." I would not be shocked if this is a passive season( following this logic). On a lighter note, the trajectory of the planet Mars is closer to the earth than it has been in 5,000 years. This trajectory may not repeat for an estimated 60,000 years. So, if you have no storms to track, Mars should be clearly visible, close to the moon . At least if you live in S. Fl. ... The Twilight Zone.

Which direction do we have to look in the sky?

From what I recall, if you can find the moon, Mars should be very visible to the naked eye. Much moreso than usual. I think that as August progresses, the best time is either early evening or dawn. Cannot recall which. I think right now,it is around 2 or 3 am. Just took a peek outside and no moon is currently visible.
