Only a depression per IMD, though the wording makes it seem likely to develop into a deep depression before landfall.

BOB 09/2006/03 Dated : 28th September, 2006

Subject: Depression over Bay of Bengal

The depression over eastcentral Bay of Bengal moved westwards now lies over westcentral Bay of Bengal and lay centred at 2030 hrs IST of today, the 28th September 2006 near lat. 18.50N and long 88.00E about 250 kms southeast of Paradip. System is likely to intensify further and move in a west-northwesterly direction and cross Orissa coast between Gopalpur and Paradip by tomorrow evening.

Under its influence, widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places is likely over Orissa and north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is also likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Chattishgarh and north Telangana during next 24 hrs.

Squally winds with speed reaching 50-60 kmph are also likely along and off West Bengal, Orissa and north Andhra Pradesh coasts during next 24 hrs.

The sea condition will be rough to very rough along and off West Bengal, Orissa and north Andhra Pradesh coasts. The Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.

Next bulletin will be issued tomorrow morning.
