A "Grim" Note:

#1 Postby GrimReaper » Wed Oct 04, 2006 11:39 am

 Now that it is October, I, for one, would like to offer a prayer of thanks for the unusually slow/ non-existent 2006 Hurricane season. We all needed a break from the horrific physical and emotional devastation nature has visited upon us, our families and friends over the past few years.

:boared: True, it has been a boring storm season, and our S2K family thrives on the mental stimulation and excitement that comes from the analyzing, predicting, and discussion (endless discussion… lol), of hurricanes and extreme weather phenomenon.

There is nothing wrong with that at all, but I’d like to challenge everyone to stay connected during the “off” season, and use the extraordinary brain power available on this site to come up with ideas and plans on how our members can network even better than we already do. Lists could be made of what members are willing to offer other members in case of disaster, whether it be temporary lodging, or babysitting pets during a crisis, or anything at all!! I’ll never forget how it felt to talk to Lindaloo on the phone, in 2004 when Hurricanes Charley/Francis/Jean were nearby, and as our electricity got knocked out, her voice was the last thing I heard, and she said “We’re all praying for you”…that was POWER!!

:team: S2K is a GREAT Community! I’ll volunteer to do anything I can to help make it even better!!

Well said Grimmy! We are one big family around here and we do not want harm to come to any of our members!

That was also an emotional time for me when Grim and myself were disconnected and I could not get her back on the phone. But, as soon as she could, she called me. I never knew that you heard me say that Grim and I feel much better knowing that you KNEW we were all here for you and always will be. :D

I wish I could have been there for all you Katrina survivors!!!!! It helps so much just to know someone cares, that's why I want to help get something together, more than a telephone list of services we can share with each other, in preparation fro next year!! Lindaloohoo.. you're an admin...what can we do?

Indeed. I'm thankful every day that the season has been such a tranquil one, may it remain so.

My prayers are always with the Katrina, Rita, Wilma, and all other survivors of the past two years of horror. May all their days by bright ones. :bday:

BTW I'd also gladly volunteer to help Storm2K in any way possible, the admins need only ask.

That would be quite interesting to hear. By the way, what are the things you say some "don't believe" that happened during and after Andrew, according to what you state? Just curious.

According to what I saw with my own two beady little green eyes down in Cutler Ridge, directly on Biscayne Bay. Enough said.
