I have tried both there are pros and cons with them
Pros
SwiftWx will get you down to street level and plot your location to it's BEST ability (this is not real good in cities)
GrLevel X is cheaper.. does the same thing (minus the street maping (unless you add one yourself) it also allows you to (with the use of Allisonhouse.com) overlay height, vort, winds, pressure, lightning, helicity, storm reports and more!
GR also lets you customize EVERY aspect of the program and the GUI (Graphics User Interface) is MUCH MORE USER FRIENDLY!
GR allows smoothing (need a decent video card) and DirectX 8
Cons
SwiftWx is very jumbled and hard to learn quickly
SwiftWx resolution (has no smoothing)
SwiftWx cost more than GR
GR doesn't have street mapping however you can create your own and overlay it on the screen.
Both have GPS capabilities.. Both allow some form of overlays (GR is much more ROBUST and easier to learn and customize)
I use GR3 myself and I am saving up for GR2Anal ($500)

I don't know if I said that wrong, but what I meant was that I think GR3 is better in all areas than SwiftWx (IN MY OPINION!). Sorry if I said that wrong!

You can purchase an AllisonHouse subscription with that with MUCH MUCH more.

EDIT:
If I were you, I'd download the trial version.
http://www.grlevelx.com/ then under Downloads, click GRLevel3. Also, check out the support forums (also at the homepage and click Forums (not Owners Forum))
