Funny..But....

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

when someone...and Im not sure who, posted a poll on the number of storms the '06 season would spawn..I said 9. and everyone was bashing me like a SOB......most people were like 18..or 19...or some silly number but I think I was pretty much on the money..a big pat on the back for me..LOL

A 30/17/7 prediction! In fairness, we were all to some extent influenced by the opinion of experts, in my case by Dr Gray..numbers are really not that important..would 2005 have been a "bust" if only one storm (Katrina) had formed and hit US?...how about 1992 and Andrew?

I certainly hope that the so called 2006 "bust" doesn't lull us into apathy next year!!

They had a poll on AOL before the season started. They asked whether the 2006 season would the better (fewer storms and less damage), worse or the same as 2005.

The top response was "the same". There were more "worse" responses than "better". I remember thinking at the time "what's the point of asking the general public a question like that??". In retrospect, it served a very good purpose...to demonstrate how much they can be manipulated by hysteria.
