Statement as of 11:00 PM AST on July 19, 2003
...Tropical Depression Six moving quickly westward with little
change in strength...
All interests in the Lesser Antilles should monitor the progress of
this system.
At 11 PM AST...0300z...the center of Tropical Depression Six was
located near latitude 12.6 north...longitude 46.2 west or about
905 miles...1455 km...east of the Lesser Antilles.
The depression is moving toward the west near 18 mph...30 km/hr...
and this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph... 55 km/hr...with higher
gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 24 hours...
and the depression could become a tropical storm on Sunday. A
reconnaissance plane is scheduled to reach the tropical cyclone on
Monday.
Estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb...29.77 inches.
Repeating the 11 PM AST position...12.6 N... 46.2 W. Movement
toward...west near 18 mph. Maximum sustained
winds... 35 mph. Minimum central pressure...1008 mb.
The next advisory will be issued by the National Hurricane Center at
5 am AST.
