Countdown to 2007 season=**2007 Season is here!!!**

#1 Postby cycloneye » Fri Jan 26, 2007 12:40 pm

As every year at this time the countdown is posted for all to see how many days, hours, minutes and seconds are left until June 1rst.Time goes very fast and before you know it,June 1rst will be here.

I set the countdown at UTC time meaning when 7:00 PM EST arrives in the east coast,it's midnight or 00:00 UTC time.On March 11 when Daylight Saving Time starts the time of change will be 8:00 PM EDT.

Good luck Shannon on the missions that you will go to during the hurricane season. For sure it will be fun up there especially if some of the missions that you will be go to strong hurricanes and cross those eyewalls and the eye itself.

On a sidenote: For all of us who live in the Islands of the Lesser Antilles,Virgin Islands,Puerto Rico,Hispanola,Jamaica as you will be based in ST Croix, the information that the crews of the hurricane hunters send to the NHC is vital in terms of preparations of the population in case of a threat to the islands of the Caribbean Basin.

RAINEX conference is in Boulder, Colorado, not North Carolina

NCAR is an institution in Boulder (where the WRF was developed)

It has been a very long time since I have been here, wuz ^ everyone. school has been keeping me busy. w/ free time on my hands I hav been doing some studying of my own, over high and low pressures, Bermmuda high pressure, and understanding how to read crownweather maps as far as wind & millabar analysis. I dont know if any of you have a book called "The Rough Guide to WEATHER" by Robert Henson, It is a good book for undestanding and forecasting weather.

I think my forecast for this 2007 hurricane season will be more realistic compared to my predicted 30 name storms for 2006.

Every May 31 in the past few years, the chatroom has got crowded as the members go to chat and wait for midnight to arrive,a kind of New Years eve.And this May 31 will not be the exception.

Are time zones taken into account? Not sure how to word it exactly.

Always the coundown in the chatroom is at EDT.But if any member wants to have their individual countdowns in their timezones apart from EDT you can do so.
