Seems to be coming rather quickly this year...

#1 Postby tgenius » Sun Apr 01, 2007 10:14 am

To think we are already in April.... it's quite shocking given that the last season feels like it just ended (though not as bad as last year when it really had just ended in January. :D) It just seems like with the quiet season we had in 2006 that the general public may have a bit of 'cane amnesia and forget about 04/05. Thoughts? I personally don't want a storm this year, I just got married 2 weeks ago! ;)

well, congrats on the funeral!!! just kidding...

i dont have a real good feel for the season yet.. not sure why.. but with the severe weather we are seeing already this year, it reminds me a bit of '04 maybe... i think it started out early like this season.. not that that has anything to do with it... just an early feel i guess... if the soi dont start rebounding soon, we may be seeing another year liike '06...

Actually the severe season reminds me of last year... starting out early and strong. Everybody last year was saying, "this is going to be a historic tornado season!" etc etc but it poofed after May. 2004 started out relatively quiet, really got kicking by May though.

And yes, it has been very quick this year, can't believe it's April already.

The strong Easterly wind flow South Florida is seeing the past several weeks reminds me of 2004. The east winds are abnormally strong for this time of year.

Yes we have had a strong easterly flow since December and January then it shifted in February but returned in March...we will have to see if this flow stays strong through july-august to determine FL East Coast's storm risk.

Yes, it does seem to be ramping up quickly....................or I'm just getting older and losing track of time. The one thing that has me very concerned is the preliminary predictions that have been made public are all getting the same responses locally, "Yeah, yeah.................they said last year was going to be a bad one and it poofed". This REALLY has me unsettled. I'm in an area that was severely damaged in 05 by Rita. I just assumed that they would not become complacent anytime soon but it appears I'm wrong. It's as though the only one that heard the message was the oil industries resulting in much higher fuel prices at the pump. Now, don't misunderstand me. I don't want folks to stop living their lives and go into a panic at every prediction because it's is no more than an educated guess by all means, however, I would like to see folks at least preparing in some way for this upcoming season instead of just for their next vacation cruise. When people fail to take responsibility for themselves it makes it harder on everyone.:(
