A peaceful month in the tropics
The last tropical cyclone formation in the tropics occurred back on April 3rd in the SW Pacific, named TC Cliff. Cliff lasted until the 6th, and Kong-rey, which had formed on March 31st, lasted until the 7th. Since then it has been extremely quiet with only a few invests and a non-tropical depression in the SW Indian Ocean. It seems the Southern Hemisphere is doing the transition to winter, which is a signal of the beginning of the end of the tropical cyclone season for them. In the Northern Hemisphere the tropical activity should begin to increase dramatically over the next month or two.
