Thinking Extreme Southern Gulf Next Week

Yesterday, I began to feel that next week may be a time for development in the area of the west tip of Cuba. I defined this area as SW of Key West, at the entrance to the southern Gulf. I may be splitting hairs, but I think that depression formation is actually more likey just north of the tip of Cuba and in the Gulf of Mexico itself. I believe that shear in this area will relax some over the next couple of days, and then markedly so after that, creating an upper level environment which could support storm formation. I'm also becoming more convinced that the storms on both sides of the Central American Isthmus will migrate northward toward the NW Carribean and eventually the Southern Gulf. If I'm right, a depression could form in the extreme southern Gulf (SW of Key West) in 7-10 days.

I dont know how productive threads are like these. Are they based on anything other than pure speculation? Ive been away since last season and I'm ready for another good year of discussions.

Glad to be back.

It's a long shot, but heck you never know. That area in the southern Caribbean has been persistant today. It's gonna be interesting to see if BB pulls out a Full House!

well... it's possible. Other models showing development means, the southern jet is slacking out or moving farther north. Development in the NW Caribbean for this time of is not out of question. We'll see if it pans out... We need the rain up here in florida.

Is this the same person who forecasted every thing in site to hit Louisiana from the other weather forum?

I don't know, most of the Gulf is still very unfavorable for anything. Maybe something might develop in the southern Carib in a few weeks and move west into Mexico, that seems more likely to me.

Isn't one thread on this possible development enough?

TALKIN TROPICS-As always this is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path. All amateur forecasts will require a STORM2K disclaimer ( Disclaimer can be found at the top of the forum ) at the top for their forecast. This will be required this year to clearly notify readers that the information contained is from an unofficial amateur source

Early on BB stated he had reasons for his prognostications and would reveal them later.
Maybe its factual maybe not but this is the people's forum.

The GFS has been hinting at a low developing in the western Carib. and moving into the SE GOM for many moons now around the 1st of June. Could be a possibility, but still far too early for anyone to forecast with any reliability.

Berwick Bay you could be onto something...
The tropical update at 805 pm mentioned a possible
caribbean system-- though I take the system you
refer to is one that forms from the current moisture
as it navigates into the Northern Caribbean.

Well I'm going to be patient. My forecast for depression in the southern Gulf of Mexico covers a 7 day or so time frame. Right now I think the key thing is the beginning of a relaxation of shear in the NW Carribean and Southern Gulf. I believe this will help facilitate the movement of moisture from the Southern Carribean (Bay of Colombia) up toward the Yucutan Channel. Over the next couple of days I look for thunderstorms to be scattered in a haphazard way over Central America, but I also look for an increasingly lush moisture field over the NW Carribean and the beginning of some Thunderstorm activity there. I don't expect anything really impressive today or tomorrow, but will look for something more by Friday.

Yes it is the same system. I am not sure why there are two threads either. One is about the system the other is about where someone thinks the system may move...
