June 1 tropical systems...

...are not a good indicator of the rest of the season. It was mentioned in the Miami Herald this morning that it's been 39 years since a tropical system formed on June 1, but, 1968 was not remembered for being a very active hurricane season in the Atlantic (note that Barry had almost an identical track as Abby on this same day):

I heard that, Miami's nbc6 said the same thing.
