Hey, cool. I smell an INVEST! ... ... ... Or maybe that's smoke. Oh geez my house is on fire! Agh! Gotta go, but I'll watch this storm. *gets a bucket of water and runs to the extinguish flames*

I agree and expect this to become the next invest as well.

I think this is the spot that the GFS has been developing for a while now.. Holds it as a closed low for a while, doesn't deepen it much though.

Looks interesting...according to wunderground the shear is very
low so development is possible. Could see a tropical depression
out of this over the next couple days...
And then it gets into the very hot caribbean...
This one has my attention.

Here's an image of it on color enhanced

Seems this thing has a decent possibility if the low holds together in about 48 hours when it crosses 40W.

Nothing to be excited about, we need to wait this one out another day and if it still looks good and becomes 96L then maybe.

well my only problem with it is that it is embedded within the ITCZ which will slow down its possible organization.. it would have to break off from the ITCZ before i would expect much .. but otherwise it looks good, SSTS are plenty warm and it does not have much further to go before it wont have to worry at all about the SSTS upper environment it good .. just needs time .. and another thing its not moving too fast .. only 15kts or so .. which is a little fast but not bad.

plenty of moisture

an invest for that? This thing is only marginally better than 95L, which also should not have been an invest

Derek I agree. That Atlantic is simply dead. Period. Sure doesn't seem like summer....but still waiting for the real season to ramp up in about 6 weeks (Aug - Oct)

Chances are slim as its a bit to far south an its also embedded within the ITCZ which will slow its development. The eastern atlantic is pretty much dominated by dust.I say things will be quite for atleast the next 2 weeks until the favorable MJO moves into the atlantic which then might spark something close to home.Adrian

Another negative factor is the predicted 850-200mb wind shear that the ECMWF predicts will spread from the Caribbean eastward across the central Tropical Atlantic this coming week.

That cluster seems a ITCZ disturbance, with a small low, which is very common at this time of the year.....That's my opinion.

Dr. Masters and all the other professional from wunderground are very confident wind shear will be substantially lower than usual for July. In fact, Dr. Masters says the wind shear forecast for July is so low that it normally takes until August to see those values. Expect a major hurricane in the Atlantic July 2007.
