Another wave to watch dissipate over the next few days.Still too early to be looking that far east, conditions not very ripe out there.

Agreed, the storm to watch (if any) would be the one in the Caribbean.

The wave behind it looks impressive and is coming off the African Coast further North.. Like Windstorm pointed out , SAL is strong but the positive phase phase of the MJO is entering the Atlantic Basin.. Lets see if we can get a development in the next 7-10 days

Agree SAL is strong but the MJO seems to be progressing at a rapid rate. See 7/8/07 graphic below. On 7/7/07 the MJO was in the central Gulf around Louisiana. 7/8/07's MJO has progressed all the way to the East Coast.

The MJO may knock the SAL down and things may start to heat up in latter July. It is a wait and see game.

Agreed there is nothing out there right now. However, in speaking of the long term only, it may be a different story with the MJO progression.

This wave is in the middle of the Central Atlantic right now. It's embedded in the ITCZ but looks better than yesterday. The CMC and the GFS are trying to develop something from this wave by this weekend or early next week. These models put like a tropical disturbance NE of the Lesser Islands by Monday.

Maybe something to watch for the next days :?: What do you think?

Aric Dunn wrote:the wave that is further west is what is needed to be watched.. may actually be something to watch a little closer over the next couple of days.. yesterday it was pretty insignificant .. this afternoon .. well there are some signs that a Low may be forming in the vicinity .. somewhere towards the far east side of that convection.... shear is fine now.. but in 24 hours it should begin to reach stronger shear.. which should help enhance convection.. but would limit any over all orginization in the short term .. but it is much more interesting to day then yesterday

this a very large .. wave .. it is disorganized.. but is rather strong.. i would not write it off .. right away..

Though things seem somewhat relatively quiet, I'm not liking the way the pattern is unfolding.
Like now SAL is pretty high and a lot of dry air is in place so a lot of forecasters are decreasing numbers in storms we may see. Just when we think things may look like 2006 in 1 weeks time SAL drops, moisture increases, shear is dead, then were looking at 2004 or 2005 season in a blink of an eye.

It's like mother nature is waiting for the right moment to unleash her fury.

So don't let your gaurd down yet
