Hurricane Fiction: Category 7
Saw this new novel at the bookstore the other day and bought it. Cheesy title
but it's pretty interesting so far. It is about a hurricane hitting New York City and there is some man-made tinkering with the weather stuff in there as well. Kills the time during while we wait for storms. More details here: http://www.tor-forge.com/category7

Re: Hurricane Fiction: Category 7
Must be the book that was produced into a made-for-tv movie the sci-fi channel has ran several times. If that's the one, it's nothing to watch that's for sure. Somehow they make a device they tow behind them in a c-130 and it makes the hurricane (which is like the half the size of the Atlantic with unimaginable wind speeds) weaken to basically back to a depression in seconds.
Definitely fits the sci-fi genre that's for sure. Basically in the movie they make a hypercane develop which is just about earthly impossible unless the waters were over 120 degrees F in a large area.
From the article:
"Hurricane Katrina was a Category 4 when she made landfall."
Wasn't it a cat 3 at landfall?

It isn't the same as those movies called Category 6 and Category 7. Randy Quaid was in those.
This book isn't based on a film.

The Randy Quaid movie was even more ridiculous. In that one they had a Category 5 hurricane form on Lake Michigan, headed toward Chicago. (And the cast members decided that the best course of action was to take shelter in the basement. Real smart.)
