Galveston Island when it rains

Good morning! Mods and admin, please feel free to move this post to the appropriate location if this is not it. I figured this was the best place asked because it is based on the tropics.

When it rains really heavily (like is forecasted from the tropical wave for late this week) on Galveston Island, are there any residual flooding problems? I am taking a vacation later this week, so I wanted to know exactly what to expect from one of these tropical waves. I know what you can expect from other tropical systems, but being a landlocked guy from Tornado Alley, we don't get many of these here tropical waves up our way often!

Any help and explanation would be very beneficial! Thanks much.

When the rains come, there are often images of street flooding in Galveston on the news. I'd be careful of where you park your car...definitely not next to a storm drain.
