#1 Postby hurricanedude » Tue Jul 31, 2007 1:48 pm

Sinse the Lowes storm 97 days....happy 10th to everyone who has come up through all the forums since then
Im not sure who is the originals...but I know it was myself, chad, dolphin and about a dozen others...if you were one of the "originals" ad your name to the list by copying and pasting the previous names and adding yours. after we figure out who is an original, I have come up with a really neat idea, which i will throw out to mf-dolphin and see what he thinks.

I was a member of that Lowes 97 board, but I didn't post much. My memory took a hike about 7 years ago(1st kid born), but was that the same as GoPBI?

My username was probably the same.

I was a member back then. I can't remember my username but it may have been jschlitz, schlitz, or something with Lubbock or Tech in the name...who knows. I took a hiatus for a few years (moved to landlocked Dallas) and missed the creation of S2K and subsequent migration. Moved back to Houston on 2005 and went to the Lowe's board. There was Jim_Tallahasse and maybe 5 other people left....wondered where everyone went and found S2K. Haven't looked back since. 8-)

I don't post too much, but I read the boards often. I used to live in New Orleans and after Katrina, my family and I moved to Colorado. I still love to study the tropics though.

I was on that chat board from '97 thru '99, but can't remember which user name I used. I checked the archives, but could not find any chat transcripts from back then. Below is what I found so far. I will do a little more digging to see what else I can come up with, maybe that will help me to remember my user name.

I found it! I did remember participating in a "celebrity chat" with Dr. Chris Landsea. I found the transcript and my post. At that time my user name was "AL"

Dr. Christopher Landsea
NOV. 25, 1997 TRANSCRIPT

12:19:50 AL: Are there any new hurricane forcasting models or any other new technology that you will be using for the 98 season?, and has any of it been updated due to this years el-nino?

12:26:59 Landsea: If you're asking about seasonal forecasting, then we won't be using any new technologies for our forecast for 1998. However, we do need to be able to better predict El Nino. If we had known that this current El Nino was going to be so strong so soon, we (Dr. Gray and I) would have called for

12:27:56 Landsea: (continued) a much quieter season than we originally predicted. But we definitely learn a bit more about hurricanes and the climate system each year.
