(Strongest Atlantic Hurricanes)Food for thought!!!

#1 Postby StormTracker » Tue Aug 21, 2007 4:50 pm

Just a little something to think about: out of the list of the 27 strongest hurricanes, 7 of them were born in the last 5 years! With the exception of last year(2006), 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2007(Dean) have produced almost 1/3 of the Atlantic's strongest hurricanes ever recorded!!! Yes, I know i could have probably posted this in another one of the almost 700 threads in "Talkin Tropics", but i just wanted to put it in the forefront of all of the S2K members minds!!! 8-)

I honestly don't know if it's caused by global warming or not, but I am certain that's what it will be blamed on.

We are just accurately measuring hurricanes. I know the Great Havana of 1846 had a central pressure of 902 millibars. I would not be surprised if some of those hurricanes had low pressures, some of them in the top 10, like Hurricane Dog (1950), 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane, Indianola Hurricane of 1886, and Hurricane San Ciriaco (1899).
