Area north of Cuba

#1 Postby hial2 » Fri Aug 24, 2007 7:02 am

The northern lobe of a wave along 71 is flaring up...Visible suggests that the area is not that hostile for development at this time, and is in very a moist envirionment..Thoughts?

The wave has moved to the western Caribbean and -71, is east of Cuba but there is an upper high starting to build over Cuba is this what you are speaking of?

There is a lot of activity this afternoon north of Cuba extending into the Florida Keys.

Plenty of instability here in SFL today, although most of the action is south in the Florida Straights.

Surface flow is southeasterly, and that appears to carry up through the mid-level with a weak trough up north of us so steering is to the NW. Convergence is pretty weak ...

I really don't see much prospect for this mess getting organized.

It is south of Florida now. It looks pretty nasty. Is there a pro out there who could comment?

Looks like it is drying up.
On a side note, Palm Beach County is getting pounded by heavy thuderstorms this afternoon and the radar looks like a red and yellow lightshow.
