Latest TWO is very bullish now

#1 Postby OtherHD » Mon Aug 04, 2003 4:19 pm

At least compared to the last few days. They must see something I'm not...my obs tell me the air is very dry and development will be hindered due to lack of persistent convection.

The Azores low looks very good however. Much better than 90L for sure.

A WELL-ORGANIZED TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ABOUT 375 MILES EAST OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS IS MOVING WESTWARD AT 10 MPH. WHILE SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS MINIMAL AT THIS TIME...SOME ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS STILL POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT IS SCHEDULED TO INVESTIGATE THE SYSTEM TOMORROW...IF NECESSARY.

AN EASTWARD-MOVING NON-TROPICAL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS CENTERED ABOUT 325 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF FLORES IN THE AZORES. THE OVERALL CIRCULATION OF THIS SYSTEM HAS IMPROVED TODAY...BUT ASSOCIATED SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY HAS DECREASED. DEVELOPMENT OF A TROPICAL CYCLONE IS UNLIKELY DUE TO STRONG WESTERLY WIND SHEAR AND COOL SEA-SURFACE TEMPERATURES.

Interesting outlook from NHC ...

The Azores Low has about 12 hours more before it truly hits waters too cold ... anyway, if anything comes of it, it'll be likely deemed a subtropical feature ...

In regards to 90L ... though looking quite pathetic really, notice the outflow pattern ... even though, there's still some southerly shearing going on ... it's likely mid-level, not high aloft. Anyway, conditions are looking to become a bit more favorable in the next couple of days ... as Rainstorm pointed out earlier (yes, rainstorm), there is an ULL around 30ºN, 60ºW ... in response, a shortwave ridge has poked up between the ULT along the East Coast and the ULL in that location ... two things here, first the more WNW movement expected instead of NW, and second, the ULL will probably enhance poleward outflow around 90L in about 24-36 hours as the invest is in a position SSW to SW of the ULL.

Actually the circulation is quite well-defined and is currently just above 15N/56.5W. The other spinup to the north is on the periphery and will dissipate. The circulation was best seen as the sun was going down on the vis shotz. Actually quite impressive. I think 90L will be around for awhile. That said, it will be dead by midnite :o If it enters a better environment in the next couple of days, she'll be trouble. Cheers!!

The NHC was bullish on 90L a couple of days off of Africa and it fizzled
The NHC was bullish on TD6 and it fizzled
So, the NHC is bullish again on 90L, I will just wait and see as I don't see it doing much the next couple of days...........MGC
