S FL water woes

Well since Noel was our last shot at rain the lake O level is around 10ft going into dry season.What is Lake O going to look like come May or June of 2008 with 6 months of absolutly no rain. We won't be able to water at all. The cities around the lake will not have running water if the level goes beyond at cetain level which I think is 8 ft. They said on the news that tighter water restrictions will be imposed beyond the phase III we had a few months ago.Hopefully the SE states will receive the needed rain from cold fronts which ususually dry up before reaching S FL.

If they would only stop watering the golf courses - that uses up more water than anything, but, considering the wealthy people who use them (and the influence they have), that's unlikely...

So, the poor lake towns might go thirsty - but the golf crowd on the gold coast will still be able to break par...

Besides, a firm fast course is more enjoyable to play and requires more strategy than a soft, lush course

So, you're not expecting a drop of rain water till June? Just because S. Fla is entering its dry period don't mean you will be rainless. Here on the MGC, October is the driest month of the year. But, this October has been the second most rainy month on record, so lets just hope the entire SE USA has a very wet winter.....MGC

All we got were some light, small-drop tropical storm showers. I doubt more than 1/100th or 2/100th's.

We better get some winter rains or we're in trouble. I doubt we got more than 1/4 inch in the last month while other parts of Florida were getting inches.

I was down in Key West all last week, plenty of rain. Hopefully Noel will bring S Fla some much needed rain.....MGC

Even if S. Fl gets a little water they could still be screwed again next hurricane season. It's either feast or famine. Either S. Florida will get one or more dangerous and deadly hurricanes in 2008 or they will get no hurricanes and dry out. The scientists were right about global warming meaning extreme conditions. Alabama is even worse. They generally do get a lot of rain in the winter so they will need that regular rainfall plus much more to get out of their hole. Unfortunately, a dry winter is expected. When you look at what is happening to the USA in several locations it starting to to become crystal clear that climate change is definitely here and things are quickly starting to suck.

To put things in perspective, there's a new rule in effect at UGA football games...there will be people whose job will be to flushing toilets when they think it's appropriate,no flushing on demand..there are usually 93000 plus students at those games..Good thing that college students don't drink beer,huh?
Upon request,I'll tell how spaniards void their bladder at soccer matches..I've been there, seen it done,...and have been guilty as charged..Ole!!
