Im sick and tired of seeing all this crap about how NOLA "dodged the bullet" and how "it could have been worse". Im a man not given to showing emotion but when I saw the cities that were heavily damaged or destroyed by Katrina..cities people died in, cities I HAVE FRIENDS IN..I was in tears.

Mississippi and Alabama did not dodge the first bullet, but at this hour, no one knows that the skyscrapers in NO will not collapes after the flood waters rise and sit! IMHO we do not know, yet, if it could have been worse. We do know from the other gulf communities that it could have been more immediate.

Nobody dodged any bullets on the Louisiana/Mississippi coasts. The scope of the disaster is unimaginable.

Sure, Katrina's intensity at landfall is and probably will be debated by academics, but it all is academic, especially compared to the catastrophe taking place all along the Central Gulf Coast.

I think an appropriate analogy that can be applied to the early feelings that NOLA "dodged a bullet" or "escaped the worst-case scenario" is...

What's one less than infinity? [What's just less than catastrophic?]

Still infinity. [Still catastrophic.]

just an observation but this thread seems kind of pointless given it's mostly just everyone agreeing the new orleans didn't dodge a bullet....
