A Lady Called Katrina

#1 Postby N2Storms » Wed Aug 31, 2005 9:18 am

"Katrina"
1st
I'm the youngest daughter, of Miss Mother Nature
And lately I ain't been on, my best behavior
They other night I blew up, I howled and screamed
You could hear me from the Great Lakes, down to New Orleans

Chorus
I was born down in the islands, when I grew bigger
I moved to the Florida coast, then up to the Mississippi River
And even though my eye, may have never seen ya
I bet you've heard of me, I'm the lady called Katrina

2nd
Mankind's been here a long time, but Mother was here first
And she has her own unique way, of taking care of Earth
I know I took a lot, and I had a lot to give
Sometimes it's necessary, to change the world like I did

Chorus
I was born down in the islands, when I grew bigger
I moved to the Florida coast, then up to the Mississippi River
And even though my eye, may have never seen ya
I'll bet you've heard of me, I'm the lady called Katrina

3rd
In the short time we had together, I taught you alot
Don't take this life for granted, thank the Lord for all you've got
So the next time that you see, one of my siblings coming
Don't hand around to meet them, you better take off running

Chorus
I was born down in the islands, when I grew bigger
I moved to the Florida coast, then up to the Mississippi River
And even though my eye, may have never seen ya
I'll bet you've heard of me, I'm the lady called Katrina

Some reason I don't think the people who just went through Katrina would agree with this song.

Mankind's been here a long time, but Mother was here first
And she has her own unique way, of taking care of Earth
I know I took a lot, and I had a lot to give
Sometimes it's necessary, to change the world like I did

For some reason I don't like that part of it. Especially the last two lines! Seems really harsh considering that not only people lost their belongings but people lost their lives, love ones, and friends.

In the short time we had together, I taught you alot
Don't take this life for granted, thank the Lord for all you've got
So the next time that you see, one of my siblings coming
Don't hand around to meet them, you better take off running

The last part of this I do hope people listen to the next time around!
