Water still rising in NOLA -- WWL4

a newsman just announced that he got off the phone with a friend who is right now in uptown nola on a usually 'higher place' and the water is still rising, similar reports on radio

they said East Jefferson Parish is threatned also with flooding. Where is East Jefferson Parish. Why would this area not already be flooded? Thanks

Water will continue to rise until the water levels even out between the lake and the city unless they can repair the breach(es). Problem being - waterways are all clogged and they are having trouble getting in. Airlifting sandbags is one thing - but strategically placing them needs to be done from the ground/water.

they re interviewing a guy of the parish....doesn't sound good concerning FEMA efforts

It is quite possible that they will not stop the flooding until the waters equalize and the pressure is off. They may have to sacrifice the city before they can damn the levees. If that is the case your witnessing the death of an entire city for a long long time to come.

East Jefferson is west/NW of of Orelans Parish (New Orleans itself) and includes Metairie.
