Did any parts of New Orleans stay dry?

Apparently "uptown" stayed dry the longest, but it too went under water today. Is there any area of New Orleans that remained dry? If so, that area could serve as the location for the core of the "new" New Orleans.

Yes, some western portions of the city (including some higher spots) fortunately did stay dry. Thankfully, so far the entire city has not flooded and only a few levees breached.

Watching some video on WWL right now. Lee Circle and the area around it is perfectly dry, Downtown is underwater and has boats cruising around.

Does anyone know where I can locate a map with the area names or ward numbers? I have a cousin who lives at 7918 Spruce Street and honestly although I have been there I really have no clue where it is from anything else in the city.

I believe that from what I saw on a map that it is part of Carrollton which used to be Jefferson Parish but was annexed to New Orleans. I'm not postive but it could be ward 17 but I'm not sure because the map was old and it might have changed. Maybe someone from the area can give you better info.

The westbank of New Orleans stayed dry. Also, water is safe to drink there, and gas service has not been interrupted. The westbank is very fortunate.
