Saints Will Get New Stadium

#1 Postby Sean in New Orleans » Wed Sep 07, 2005 3:17 am

With Tom Benson threatening to imminently move the New Orleans Saints permanently to San Antonion, TX, the State of Louisiana dropped a bombshell that sent a clear message, immediately, without discussion, to Mr. Benson when announcing that the Louisiana Superdome has sustained over $400 million in damage and that it will have to be destroyed. The clearest message yet, in the middle of this storm, has been sent to the Saints...a new stadium is now on the horizon. What a strange scenario to hit the ceiling while in the midst of this humanitarian crisis. Now, Mr. Benson suddenly wants to get involved with bringing the community back and standing arm in arm with the citizens of New Orleans. Oh well, at least we know they won't be leaving, now, and that a new stadium will have to be built since the State said it had to be demolished.

Sean... are you alon405 on another site???

Your post is the exact thing alon504 posted on another site as their belief without proof. If your not..bad form, if so then state that its your belief without proof. Too many rumors. The Saints stated in since thier first press confernce that they would help rebuild the community.

Sean, I remember before this hit the fan, there was all this talk about a new stadium and negotiations with the state and all this. It's weird how it kind of resolved itself. Seems like Katrina did it for them.

I've read that they'll either be playing their home games this year at LSU or at the Alamodome...there at the S2K Sports forum.

I said it is "MY TAKE." The Dome will is going to be demolished, this was on the news yesterday stated by top state officials. It doesn't really take a genius to figure out that if the Dome is demolished then the Saints will be getting a new stadium.

What happened to the refunds for the current ticket holders? They need money for food, water and gas more than tickets to a game they cannot attend that is going to be held hhundreds or thousands of miles away.

Actually there are more pressing needs right now. A stadium is the last thing they need to build.

I thought there was only damage to the dome roof from the 'cane winds...is there substantial damage inside that none of us know about...that the media isn't saying...?

Second thought the flooding damage...guess it's the only viable thing to do is demolish then...

seems like the last thing they need to worry about is a stupid football stadium.
