Glad Jim Cantore and his crew are safe!

#1 Postby Storm Chaser » Thu Sep 08, 2005 3:53 pm

I just want to tell Jim (he could be reading this..) that I am glad the whole crew is safe and sound back in Atlanta. You had some prayers going on for you up in Georgia, and maybe elsewhere around the country! The whole city of Marietta was praying for you, buddy! I can't begin to imagine the amazing devastation you witnessed while down there, and I know it changed your life. It's incredibly humbling to see such painful stories coming out of the Gulf Coast region. God bless!

Agreed. Interesting how he was at the Biloxi Coliseum before going to Gulfport and well you know what happened at the Coliseum. (i.e., incredible and devastating surge, lowest floor totally wiped out)

Now Jim and Company are probably on the east coast of FL monitoring newly formed Hurricane Ophelia!

I think it is somewhat ironic that TWC thought it was too dangerous to put someone in NO and instead put them in places that were more directly in line with the storm's final path. Glad they stayed safe.

Jimmy is back at the anchor desk for Evening Edition. Mike Seidel is at Ormand Beach on the eastern coast of FL. I think Cantore had some say in whether he went to this one or not. I wouldn't be surprised if he said no. Katrina was a major wake-up call for that crew. I think a few wives might have had a say in the decision to stay in Atlanta too!

Storm Chaser....just so you know, I did hear from Jim and shared your personal comments with him. Here was his humble (as you would expect) response.

Hey I appreciate the kudos. This was amazing, but I can only still think of the people who have nothing.
