"My New Orleans"

#1 Postby Cookiely » Sun Sep 11, 2005 7:12 pm

My mother wrote this and I wanted to share it with you.
New Orleans, My New Orleans.
A happy place of all my dreams, everything has tumbled down.
Where is the glitter of the town?
All we see has gone to rubble.
Hearts are broken, filled with trouble.
Now we have to stick together. There is hope, in spite of weather.
Love is there for us to share, and though this seems so hard to bear.
Oh New Orleans, My New Orleans.
Sweet city of our dreams.
We will survive, though some are lost.
But we shall rise despite the cost.
Oh New Orleans , My New Orleans. You'll live forever in our dreams.

Sweet. You should send this farther out...in a few well chosen words your mother has conveyed what thousands must be feeling.

I think you should send this to the local papers and maybe the media. Words to live by.

This is great! It truly captures the spirit of the people who are determined to pick up the pieces and rebuild.
