Corps of Engineers “Operation Blue Roof” locations for Sept. 20
BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 20, 2005 – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces applications for “Operation Blue Roof” will be accepted in the Rights of Entry Collection Centers (ROEC) listed below on Sept. 20.
Operation Blue Roof is a FEMA-assigned mission of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that provides temporary repairs to both residential and public building roofs damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
Corps contractors will install the temporary roof covering at no cost to the resident.
To get the help, owners must sign a “Right of Entry” form that allows Corps staff to assess the roof damage, and for Corps contractors to do the work. To obtain assistance under this program, the owner must sign a Right of Entry to grant access to their property.
If owners have evacuated from the area and are unable to personally come to the center, they can designate another person to sign the Right of Entry on their behalf. These designations can be delivered to the center by the designee. The designation must include the owner’s street address, parish and signature before the Right of Entry can be completed.
Corps employees will be at these locations to help residents complete and sign the forms. Installation will occur at the earliest possible date.
