This is not a fairy tale. This is about the enthusiam of recovery victims.
I have a friend that is also a previous client. He has had several incidents of post Katrina damage on his properties. In that......trees damaged during our windstorm are just beginning to fall apart and slam into roofs and cars and everything else.
Several days ago he gave me a blank check and told me to find some materials. We searched several locations and found nothing suitable.... alot of damaged product for sale. We're still sellling Katrina damaged products. That alone should carry some thought.
Early this morning I was given an ultimatum. "Start the job today or lose it......"
We discussed product availability and costs. His exact words were....." I don't care if the stuff costs $50 a sheet......I want those walls covered today."
Time and material was never discussed.....only production.....a show....a start.
Needless to say we found a high grade raspberry pecan 5/16 all laminate interior paneling and proceeded......
After last seasons lackluster hurricane landfalls in the gulf, we are seeing renewed interest in recovery. Although I am still suspect of some benchmarks and BFE. As a builder and homeowner here in south Mississippi.....I see alot of problems. It is disturbing.
I got my notice today. The insurance on my shop will not be renewed. We had damage and never filed a claim.
As first mentioned. This is not a tale.
