actually, a cat 4 or 5 into NO would be FAR WORSE than 9/11 and Pearl Harbor

yes, it is not NYC; however, it will basically stop the oil flow into the nation, maybe plunging us immediately into recession

Its cool bro, this may sound wierd. But we can rebuild we can go back to normal lives in a few weeks. For NO itd be devastating.. I would much rather have it hit Texas or Florida. Just please have it spare NO lord

Yes... 9/11 was bad in it's own way(you really can't compare them since one was a man-made event and one is beyond our control) though.

Actually we're about the 3rd or 4th busiest port now. I think it goes Rotterdam, Houston, something then New Orleans...

In case you didn't notice, NHC's 10 pm track brinds a Cat 4 Katrina into New Orleans as I suspected. Talk about a nightmare scenario....

FSU Super-ensemble 131 Kts!!!!

#95 Postby LSU2001 » Fri Aug 26, 2005 9:59 pm

The hurricane is expected to be under a typical 200 mb
anticylone...with a cyclonic circulation extending upward to that
level. This is the typical pattern observed in intense hurricanes.
In addition...Katrina is forecast to move directly over the warm
loop current of the Gulf of Mexico...which is like adding high
octane fuel to the fire. Therefore...the official forecast brings
Katrina to 115 knots...or a category four on the Saffir-Simpson
hurricane scale. The GFDL is more aggressive and calls for 124
knots and 922 mb. The FSU superensemble is even more aggressive
bringing Katrina to 131 knots.

10PM discussion says very strong high over Texas will weaken and move west. How long it takes to weaken and how quick it moves to the west is what has me really concerned. I don't think it will weaken quick enough to save LA. It is too strong. Look for Katrina to continue moving west through tomorrow. Then it will be too late.

If I were living along the LA coast including the greater NO area, I would be hauling butt to get out of Katrina's way. Hope all you in that area get out of harm's way!

I wonder if Superfly is as confident as he was on Friday? Wonder if he has a home left? Anyone heard from him?
