POST LOCAL NEWS LINKS HERE -- for newspaper & TV coverag

#1 Postby KBBOCA » Tue Aug 30, 2005 6:01 am

All, it would be nice if we could have one thread where folks put useful links to keep up with news and damage reports (perhaps such threads are needed by State?)

PLEASE POST LINKS TO LOCAL NEWS COVERAGE HERE.

In any case, here is the link to the best news summary I've seen for the New Orleans area. It has lots of details about individual neighborhoods and specific damage (eg. the I-10 bridge) looks to be must reading for anyone trying to follow the news from NOLA.

Do folks have any links to live streaming radio / audio broadcasts in the area?

Any stations covering Mississippi? I'm particulary interested in online AUDIO. Thanks

Hundreds Dead or Missing in Mississippi per Sun Herald

#10 Postby recmod » Tue Aug 30, 2005 9:26 am

The Mississippi Sun Herald is now reporting "Hundreds Missing or Dead", according to the latest on their website:

BILOXI - Hurricane Katrina battered the Mississippi Coast on Monday with a force not seen since Camille 36 years ago, shattering cities and leaving hundreds missing or dead today.

Mississippi bore the brunt of Katrina's powerful lashing. The massive Category 4 storm shattered multi-million dollar casinos, buried Biloxi's beach highway and killed at least 80 people in Harrison County alone

FWIW,

WDSU is providing better coverage it appears. Just my two cents.

I think they set up shop in Jackson, MS, yesterday and have pretty much been non-stop.

Here is the Coast Guard Katrina Incident site

Here is one of the best blogs covering Katrina that I've seen in terms of regular updates and not too much hype:
