I believe we deployed 2 k-9 cadaver dog units to mississppi to help find the missing. Bravo.. Bravo!
Animals lives and suffering are important too as my sea lion post.
Do we have any other people on this board concerned with the suffering and saving the lives of our beloved dogs and cats ect?

Noah... see my post to you under the sea lion thread. My stomach is in knots at the thought of animals dead and trapped and worse.... those that have suffered , alone and scared before they died. My thoughts for humans are just as compassionate, I am probably more altruistic than most having been a gestational surrogate mother to five children that were not biologically mine.... my heart is too big to comprehend all this tragedy both human and regarding animals. I relate to your pain....

Yes, yes! This is one of the most unbearable aspects to the tragedy for me personally.
My dog spent last Sunday through Friday in and out of doggy ICU (bloat), during which time Tampa was variously coned or swathed or what have you, and, all I could think was, "Great. My dog is going to be stranded at the hospital during a hurricane..." or that we'd be rushing him to or driving him home from there in the middle of a Tropical Storm...
I'm so grateful that we're home here, safe and dry, but so saddened realizing that this type of tragedy and worse is what many have to face right now in regards to their pets, whom many consider full-fledged members of their family.
I am glad to hear that there are more accomodations available than ever for people to evacuate to with their pets. However, I feel like more is needed. No one should ever have to decide between evacuating to safety or leaving their pet. It's cruel and unrealistic to disregard people's pets.
On the other hand, I am so heartened by the admiral job that our canine friends are already doing for this disaster like they have done so many times before. Who can forget the images of the search and rescue dogs at the 9-11 site in NYC. I'm sure similar images will emerge from this disaster.
