Levee breaks

#1 Postby soonertwister » Wed Aug 31, 2005 8:11 pm

This may be a dumb question to ask, but I've been repeatedly told that authorities have been working around the clock to repair the breaks in the levees, and to this moment I haven't once seen a single helicopter, piece of heavy equipment, or massing of people to do anything about them.

Is this just media spin, or are the levee fixers invisible people?

I meant to post this on the proper board, and I though I was there. Please move this thread where it belongs.

They've given up on repairing the levees.

EDIT: Maybe not, there's a story on Fox right now about the Army dropping in 15,000 lb sandbags in the breach.

You have a point. Either we are all watching video from yesterday or they are very sneaky people. Must be real hard to hide a 3000 pound sand bag.

Maybe they just want to surprise us later with evidence that they really did make an effort.

So, does anyone know the status now? Was there another levee break? Anyone know where?

I live in Baton Rouge and I can tell you it doesnt seem like a moment goes by without a helicopter going overhead. I know many of them are rescue missions but with the number we are hearing, I wouldnt be shocked if they are trying to get the levees fixed

Earlier on tv a corp of engineer rep was explaining that they were waiting for a delivery of straps need to drop the sandbags. He explained that each strap is dropped with the sandbag and they were waiting for a delivery of 250 of them.
