Will lack of drinking water kill more than drowning in NOLA?

#1 Postby Wacahootaman » Thu Sep 01, 2005 5:28 am

I was astounded when watching Fox yesterday ,where they showed hundreds if not thousands of people on an elevated highway broiling in the summer sun with little or no water despite cars and trucks occasionally driving by!

Heat indexes in NOLA yesterday were predicted to be up to 110 and the high temp was predicted to be 97. Yet there was no drinking water dropped off for these refugees by numerous official vehicles that passed by!

Imagine wading through the toxic gumbo to escape to this elevated highway and not having any water to drink once you got there while govt vehicles drive by without any efforts to bring drinking water to you or your family!

One truck load of drinking water to these poor people would save more lives than a hundred helicopter rescues but it is not happening!

I agree this is a problem and will be addressed but when and how many will die before help arrives. I did see a huge problem concerning the people who's homes are relatively intact but surrounded by water and they are refusing to leave and refusing water. Apparently they are using the city water which is still working. I can't believe they think the water is safe to drink. These people also think the electricity is going to be on shortly. The police couldn't get them to leave. They are going to have to get tougher and physically order them to leave.
