Cuba's offer of materials/manpower - no strings attached

#1 Postby oneness » Sun Sep 04, 2005 1:58 am

Without discussing any politics or water-under-the-bridge of the past 50 years, this is apparently a genuine open-ended offer of 1,100 doctors and medicine supplies from the people of Cuba. One would hope it might be taken-up as a sympathetic gesture, itself worthy of particular note. They know what it’s like to be on the receiving-end of a Cat 4 Hurricane and any one who has been through one knows how these storms do bring people together like nothing else can. I hope leadership will grasp the nettle and not let this opportunity pass by.

Usually when the United States offers help they decline it. I know they did several times. Then they come out and offer help? That's kinda strange to me.

But if someone accepts and changes that dynamic forever ... where's the harm?

This is sorta like Stalin selling the grain on the international market that he seized from the Ukranian farmers in 1933 while million of them starved to death.

Those doctors and medecine are sorely needed in Cuba.

On second thought, they probably can be spared because the Communist Party members have their special heath care needs guarenteed and it is only the Cuban people who will suffer more. Plus it would give a ruthless dictator some good propaganda points for his leftist apologists.

They also made the same offer after 9/11. Castro basically opened Cuban airports to any flights that needed to be diverted due to the lockdown in the US. Great country with great people.

Yep, Too bad they are oppressed by a ruthless tyrant who inprisons and murders anyone who speaks out against him.

Map of some three hundred prisons in Castro's prison state. Batista had 11 prisons and the apologists for Castro act as if he is an inprovement

Check out thet he cells known as 'gavetas' (drawers) where prisoners had to spend most of their time lying down because the roof was too low for them to standup.

Between 10 and 15 political prisoners were kept in cells like these for six or more months. The space between the small wall and the back of the cell was used by the prisoners to defecate and urinate there were no toilet facilities in these cells.

But dont worry. You will be a foreign tourist with dollars that will go into Castros pocket so this will not be happening to you.

You will be sleeping in a luxury hotel in air conditioned confort, provided you dont have a conscience that is. Otherwise, you would not be able to sleep at all.
