Mods - if you need to move this post - please do so - this could fit in any number of topics probably.
The rescue continues - the people are still in buildings and alive in New Orleans. They are finding many many survivors that stayed. They are having to be forced into boats. Most don't understand the magnitude of the situation. These elderly have been in NO since day 1 - never left - never intended to. That is their home and they had survived. Some believe the water will recede and they will clean up as they have - generation after generation.
Some didn't go because they had pets. Others couldn't. They are literally have to talk these people into leaving instead of them desperately waving assistance down.
One survivor at our local shelter here just bought a new house in NO. He wasn't leaving it for any amount of money - until - the water came in through the windows, they were forced to the roof and they sat there and BBQ'd for 3 days That took all of the food and headed to the roof. It's a wonder he is alive to talk about it with the exposed gas lines, etc.
They weren't concerned until they were told the water is not going to recede and when it does the entire city is uninhabitable. They have told these people that disease will begin to run rampant throughout the population that is left.
Some are getting in the boats. I hope they all do - or we will be adding more casualties to the list.
Are you watching FOX? NO evac continues . . .
