82 year old woman speaking from her house on her kitchen phone. She is in New Orleans and water did not get into house. She still has water, food, and now phone. She is not asking for help, just letting people know she is there. She also has a transistor radio.
THIS IS THE WAY TO PREPARE FOR A HURRICANE.

She's just said she's 71 years old. She doesn't sound like she's in serious trouble. She seems to be staying home because she doesn't want to leave her dog.

Glad she is okay. The difference here is that "water didn't get into her home". If she had been flooded it wouldn't have mattered how much preparation she had done.

They had a news story on today with the guy from GB - and he was talking to people in the 4th floor of some high rise that were refusing to leave. Amazing!!!

I don't think she was smart, but was rather lucky. She could have easily been someone with 9' of water in her house and all those supplies would have meant nothing to her. Good to hear though.
