Continuous Stream of Choppers

#1 Postby LSU2001 » Mon Sep 05, 2005 12:11 pm

There is a continuous stream of military choppers flying over my house today. I guess they have re-routed some of the air traffic for President Bush's visit to BR. I have noticed choppers the past week but today they are coming over every few minutes. Hearing and seeing the choppers really brings the magnitude of the relief effort home. I hope and pray that they can get everyone that wants out of NOLA out. I also fear what we will hear when the rescue workers make their way down to St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes. I saw a report yesterday with Gen. Landreneau of the La. National Guard and he made a comment that not even birds were chirping in Plaquemines Parish. So sad it is sickening.

I still remember what a pleasure it was to wake up to the sound of a long line of Chinooks hauling relief supplies right over my head. :-)

I know how you feel. I work in Denham and live in Baton Rouge. I have been hearing the choppers going constantly while at home because many of them are landing about 2 miles from here at Independence Park. I have heard far less today than I have since the effort started so I am glad to hear they are still going out ... I think you are right on the re-routing of the air traffic.

I actually live in watson north of DS so I guess now the choppers are being routed in a northern circle around the city. I also saw/heard fighter jets a while ago so I guess they were handleing air cover for Air Force 1.
