Is I-12/I-10 Open Through Slidell Yet?

#1 Postby wxman57 » Mon Sep 05, 2005 2:44 pm

We've been trying to find out if/when I-12 (north of Lake Pontchartrain) will be open to through traffic into Mississippi. The LA DOT web site says it's open, but when my sister called they said it's still closed. We want to deliver supplies to our mother in Gautier, MS (just east of Biloxi) but have been unable to find any route from Louisiana to Mississippi.

Wxman57, I have already went to Pascagoula from Baton rouge to bring supplies. I went up hwy 16 (Denham Springs) to hwy 10 which turns in to Hwy 26 in bogulosa La. Hwy 26 goes into Lucedale Ms. and you can take Hwy 613 into Moss Point. You can still access many of the side roads and can cross the river into Gautier.

Not sure if it's open or not but you could try I-59 to Hattiesburg and then take 98 towards Mobile. From 98 you can take 63 south and get to Gautier from Moss Point. I KNOW that 98 and 63 are open the only question mark is whether or not I-59 would be. I can't remember any major bridges along that route so I'm thinking it would. Hope this helps.
