Our homeowner's policy, Allstate had a provision that all our living expenses INCLUDING rent were covered in the event of Martial Law, mandatory evacuation or Police Action.
I dug that baby out and RAN to the Allstate station. Presto. Our homeowners paid for all.

IN THE PAST...
It'll be interesting to see if whether or not the insurers have closed up such "loopholes" after last season!
What gets me is, didn't most insurers still boast of big profits after last season? I get so
over their "Well, we'll TAKE your money every single month, but if WE ever have to pay - then we're outta here!" attitudes.

State Farm is cutting $2500 checks to cover evac/temp housing costs, just call a local agent where you are displaced, once they verify that you have a homeowners policy the check will be cut. We called an agent here in Pigeon Forge TN yesterday morning and 6 hours later they had the check ready. Will cover us at least a few weeks before getting back to Metairie!
Now, who do I call to have my $2k FEMA Debit Card mailed to the condo?
